The results contain other cities or postcodes

"The software downloads cities I did not select", "I get postcodes I did not ask for", "why are there results outside my area?" — this is expected behaviour, and it has a simple explanation.

Why it happens

IQUALIF returns exactly what the source displays for the search requested. When a directory does not find enough results in the area you entered, it widens the perimeter itself and offers records from neighbouring towns or postcodes. The software collects those records because they are part of the result page the site returned.

For example, a search on an activity that is thinly represented in one postcode can return results from several surrounding towns, because that is what the site shows for that query.

How to keep only your area

1. Export the file as usual.
2. In Excel, apply a filter on the postcode or city column and keep only the values you want.
3. For a wide area, filter on the first digits of the postcode (or the "Department" column when present).

You can also re-run the search in Manual or Semi-auto mode with a tighter criterion (city + street), which reduces the automatic widening done by the source.

• Are the right country and source selected at the top of the window?
• Did you answer No to "Add to the last search?" — if you answered Yes, the export also contains the results of previous searches.
